Owing to the murder of a young schoolgirl by a party of boys, in imitation of what they had seen at a picture hall, new rules for the control of cinema shows have been drawn up by the authorities of Osaka, Japan. In future the exhibition of films for adults and children under 16 years must be entirely separate, and no children must be admitted into an exhibition intended for adults. Further, the exhibition of films for children are limited to daytime.
Recently the murder of two school girls took place in the suburbs of Osaka, and the police discovered that the death of one of these girls was the work of four boys, 16 and 17 years old, who are described as being of weak intellect. It has been found that the killing of the girl, who was waylaid, carried off by force and murdered, was due to an idea obtained by these young criminals at cinema exhibition.
