Tokyo. May 1. - A legal fight involving the whole question of pirated American motion picture films is expected to develop as a result of warning sent today to exhibitors to hold up the first release in Tokyo of Griffith's "Way Down East" by an exhibitor possessing an alleged pirated copy of the same film.
George Mooser. Far Eastern representative of the United Artists, sold the Japanese release of the film to Sakai Showai, who, before making the first showing, received formal notice threatening legal action for infringement of authorship rights from Haru Takamura, exhibitor possessing the alleged pirated copy which came by the same steamer with the original.
